Breaking the 30 mile barrier
I got out for my first "serious" training ride today, a 30+ mile loop around the hills of Brindle to visit a client who I'd not seen for over 4 years. Despite torrential downpours the ride was good and steady with some reasonable inclines heading up from Higher Walton to Brindle itself. A long wait for two trains at the Gregson Lane level crossing was quite a welcome break :)
One valuable lesson learnt: If your wheels are only 16" in diameter - cattle grids require more respect!
